This look is one of three designed for a fashion show with the goal of commenting on the forces which are changing how modern young people pursue creativity. Students have long been complaining about homework, but the more recent trend of additional self-imposed academic stress, driven by the lingering effects of the pandemic and a greater focus on college admissions, has complicated many students relationship with schoolwork. This outfit, featuring a blazer draped with 20 unique stylized pieces of my actual homework and linked together with critique-red embroidered pen ink, shows how students can wrap themselves with their studies, impeding extra-curricular creative endeavors while at the yielding unexpected inspiration between the pages. The academics-wrapped wearer is propped up with eye-catching bright red heels adorned with red pens to match the pen ink across the blazer.
