The prompt for this class project was to create a cardboard device which alters and enhances a physical sense. I was assigned hearing for my sense to augment. This head-worn device changes the wearer's perception of the world around them by effectively switching their ears so they hear in their left ear what is to their right and vice versa. The design uses round cardboard tubes to carry sound across the head effectively, and has adjustable ear muffs with embedded paper insulation to direct sound to the user's ear. The effect of wearing the headpiece is head-spinning and leaves a lingering distortion to one's perception for a few minutes after removal.
